Description

Betches Media is seeking a part-time SEO writer who will write daily pop culture content for the Betches site (celebrity, TV, movies, award shows, lifestyle, trends, etc). Candidates who are chronically online and who are “in the know” about entertainment headlines will have the most fun in this role, which will report to the Entertainment editor and work closely with all editorial team members.

The ideal candidate is an experienced, self-sufficient entertainment writer (with bylines at entertainment news outlets or women’s media outlets), who is quick and efficient. You should have sound writing skills, amazing attention to detail, an understanding of SEO and google trends, and a strong journalistic background, as well as an interest in thinking outside the box when it comes to pitching and story ideation. 

Expected Hours

• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 11am EST to 4pm EST
• Friday: 11am EST to 3pm EST

Roles & Responsibilities

• Write SEO-focused timely entertainment and evergreen stories
• Produce 3-4 timely news stories a day around trending stories, celebrity, and pop culture news
• Diligently track all things entertainment, pop culture, viral news, and TikTok/social media trends throughout the day
• Work closely with the the Entertainment editor on story assignments
• Ensure all content aligns with Betches editorial standards
• Be an enthusiastic member of the team, continuously offering fresh ideas and pitches
• Cover awards shows, breaking news, and other live entertainment events as needed

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant writing experience for an online publication with bylines for examples
• Strong understanding and experience with SEO best practices, including photos and meta descriptions
• Knowledge of SEO tools like google trends
• A passion for celebrities and influencers, the entertainment industry, and TikTok
• In-depth knowledge of U.S. entertainment, news, and pop culture
• Highly organized, detail oriented, and passionate about Betches Media
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
• A strong understanding of the Betches voice and what makes a Betches Story
• Capable of working within tight deadlines and ability to work flexible hours
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Breaking news experience and affiliate marketing experience a plus
