Description
Are you the person in the group chat who actually watches the games, knows the storylines, and immediately says, “Wait, this would kill on TikTok”? Do you understand sports not just as competition—but as culture, fandom, drama, and internet discourse?
We are looking for a sports and pop culture obsessed, chronically online person who knows how quickly the sports news cycle moves and is tapped into every moment. If you jump at every ESPN notification, find yourself doing deep dives into athlete’s love lives, pets and hobbies, speak in memes, and schedule your plans around your favorite team’s schedule, we want to hear from you!
This is not about copying trends or pumping out generic highlight clips. It’s about original ideas, strong POVs, and making sports content that feels unmistakably Betches.
This is a part-time freelance role, requiring a commitment of approximately 15 hours a week.
Roles & Responsibilities
Content Creation
Ideate, pitch, create and post reactionary content, both static and video, in the tone of Betches Sports
Keep a finger on the pulse of major trending sports topics and pitch content that is relevant to the biggest stories happening in sports
Be available for quick turn, video edit support as needed
Assist in development and creation of serialized sports content
Manage cadence of Betches Sports Instagram Stories, building out calendars that include space for both reactionary content and community building interactive series
Real-Time & Live Coverage
Provide live and reactive coverage for predetermined games and major sports moments, including select nights and weekends.
Balance proactive planning with reactive content during fast-moving news cycles.
Identify moments worth amplifying in real time and execute quickly.
Sports POV & Cultural Fluency
Bring deep knowledge of major sports leagues, athletes, storylines, and fan behavior (especially NFL, F1, WNBA, NWSL, college sports, and pop-culture-adjacent sports moments).
Identify which sports stories are internet stories—and know how to frame them for a women-first, culture-forward audience.
Proactively pitch video ideas tied to the sports calendar, social chatter, and breaking news.
Social Ownership & Community
Contribute to and help manage the social posting calendar and cadence.
Engage with comments and community conversations to reinforce brand voice and deepen fan connection.
Monitor social chatter and fan sentiment to inform content decisions.
Create content designed to drive engagement, debate, saves, shares, and group chat moments, not just passive views.
Technical & Creative Skills
Edit quickly and confidently using Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools.
Strong instincts for pacing, captions, framing, audio, and storytelling optimized for mobile and short attention spans.
Comfortable with creator-style, lo-fi production when it serves the moment—this does not need to feel overly polished.
Bonus: experience with motion graphics, After Effects, or advanced captioning workflows.
Qualifications
Deep sports knowledge and genuine sports fandom — this is the #1 requirement. You follow games, athletes, storylines, and online discourse daily.
At least 3 years experience creating content for social media, either for yourself or for a Sports/Entertainment brand
Working knowledge of Canva and Premiere/Capcut/InShot/Edits or another video editing software
A strong POV when it comes to sports content – we don’t report what’s happening in sports, we drive cultural conversations around sports
To know ball in a way that allows you to make niche references that the girls will love and appreciate
A willingness to rage bait sports fans (without being mean about it)
Preferred
Experience working with sports media, digital publishers, or creator-led brands.
Familiarity with social analytics and performance-driven iteration.
Understanding of how organic social content supports broader brand, editorial, or sponsorship goals.
A genuine fan of Betches who understands our voice, humor, and cultural influence.
