Description
The Director of Data Strategy & Solutions aligns and directs the management, development, and integration of data analytics and business intelligence necessary for supporting the mission, vision strategies, objectives, and goals of the business. They are responsible for driving data-driven decision-making, consumer-driven analytics, and investment planning across the business.
The Director of Data Strategy & Solutions will ensure that Betches teams and business leaders have continuous access to relevant data, insights and key metrics to enable a strong understanding of the users of our products, our audience, growth opportunities and the competitive landscape. The Director manages the vendors, tools and technologies required to measure outcomes against KPIs.
Roles & Responsibilities
The Director of Data Strategy & Solutions will:
Lead the development of a measurement framework and define the business KPIs alongside leadership
Institute and oversee initiatives to track performance based on key metrics, and enable overall performance and profitability of the business
Assess the commercial value and measure the company’s position in the marketplace by consistently tracking competitors actions and growth
Track revenue alongside audience to create visibility to total company success
Work collaboratively with the internal departmental heads and executives in an effort to guarantee the delivery of high-quality execution of the diverse array of project deliverables
Navigate editorial content insights reporting to internal leadership teams as well as marketing insights and campaign performance outcomes to client stakeholders
Business Analytics:
Track pacing for all data-driven goals including new and established company initiatives, products and verticals
Establish benchmarks for pilot initiatives or potential sunset categories
Create systems to monitor and analyze business performance and regular cadence of reporting
Be prepared with projections for business goals
Organize all data and analytics systems and reporting systems to be easily accessible and understandable to other team members
Implement new tools to create a centralized company database that shows progress against goals and established metrics throughout the year, is scalable, current, user friendly, and accessible to the entire company at all times
Assess efficiency and effectiveness of systems and continue to improve and evolve all data collection and reporting processes
Track, identify and flag any material changes in business performance including trends in growth or decline across all Betches brands/verticals and clients
Identify business performance changes and communicate findings early
Create solutions driven approach to solve problems proactively
Help to establish a performance and data-driven culture across Betches
Increase use of data and metrics as part of planning across content, marketing and sales
Consumer Insights and Market Analytics:
Be an expert on Betches brand, products, target customer, market/industry, and members
Understand growth (audience & revenue) barriers across products and markets and identify solutions with cross-functional teams to address them
Provide regular insights and trends that provide perspective on market trends, competitors and growth opportunities
Establish systems to deliver consumer insights on current and potential customer base including needs, wants, perceptions, and behaviors
Establish the data department as a valuable resource for consumer insights by consistently aggregating, synthesizing, and sharing out new learnings internally
Qualifications
6-8+ years of experience in data strategy, research, or analytics, with a strong focus on the media industry
Proven ability to transform raw data and complex information into strategic recommendations, and independently build the outputs (dashboards, reporting, and presentations) that bring those insights to life
Comfortable operating as a player-coach — able to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution (analysis, reporting, and building outputs as needed)
Experience building and scaling data infrastructure, reporting frameworks, and KPI systems from the ground up in a fast-paced environment
Background working with agencies or brands on executing media campaigns, with strong familiarity with the media planning process
Strong storytelling skills with the ability to translate campaign and business performance into clear, strategic narratives that inform future strategy
Relevant leadership experience, with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams, presence with executive and client stakeholders
Expertise in media channels, audience engagement, and research methodologies (including brand lift studies and audience insights)
Excellent workflow management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence at all levels of the organization
Ability to prioritize across competing business needs and operate effectively in a fast-moving, resource-constrained environment
Familiarity with data platforms and analytics tools such as Looker Studio, GWI, SimilarWeb, Quantcast, TGI, YouGov, Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, Comscore, Kantar, Supermetrics, and Crowdtangle
AI experience and proficiency, experience driving enablement and developing agentic solutions to automate day-to-day operations
Experience with social listening platforms such as ListenFirst and Brandwatch, and working with first-party behavioral data is a plus
Bonus: Experience with DMP, CDP, CRM, or other first-party data platforms
Compensation
The expected annual base salary for this role is $120,000 - $125,000. Years of experience, skills, and other factors such as location are considered when determining the salary offered. Total compensation and offer package will include the following perks below.
