Description
Betches is seeking a VP of Betches Sports to act as the business owner for all things sports at Betches. This leader will oversee the day-to-day and long-term content strategy for Betches Sports — leading creative and growth across social channels and editorial products — with a mandate to grow the brand into a cultural authority in women’s sports coverage and conversation.
Reporting to the Chief Content Officer, the VP of Betches Sports will be equal parts creative visionary and strategic operator. You will drive the direction of our sports coverage by leading and collaborating with the team creating, distributing, and scaling content, and help build relationships with both platforms and strategic partners to accelerate growth. You will also assist in leading editorial sports initiatives and tentpoles, and be a key member in collaborating on client-facing initiatives that help shape Betches’ role in the sports landscape.
The VP of Betches Sports should have a keen ability to identify opportunities for partnerships, distribution, and brand expansion. This role requires someone who can think boldly about where our content should live, what stories we should tell, and how to bring Betches Sports to new audiences and platforms.
We are looking for a hyper-creative, strategic leader who can not only manage and inspire a team but also expand the brand’s presence, voice, and impact within the cultural conversation around sports.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Act as the business owner of Betches Sports, overseeing strategy, creation, execution, distribution, and growth across all editorial and distribution channels (social, newsletter, web, podcasts, video, etc.).
- Lead the vision of Betches Sports, developing formats, franchises, and campaigns that create conversation and advance the brand.
- Partner with leadership to identify and pursue strategic opportunities for growth — including new platforms, distribution partners, and brand collaborations.
- Serve as the lead content point of contact for external sports-related strategic partnerships (i.e. NFL), cultivating relationships that drive both audience development and business impact.
- Develop and oversee both large-scale editorial tentpoles and initiatives, ensuring that sports initiatives feel exciting, culturally relevant, and true to the Betches voice.
- Inspire, manage, and mentor the Betches Sports team, building systems that foster creativity, accountability, and career development.
- Collaborate with sales, branded content, and marketing teams to ideate and package sports campaigns that generate revenue and resonate with our audience.
- Maintain a growth-focused mindset, using data, audience behavior, and cultural insights to refine strategy and optimize performance.
- Champion creativity at every level — driving innovation in storytelling, platform use, and partnerships.
- Work closely with the Chief Content Officer and leadership team to align Betches Sports with the broader company strategy and goals.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in digital media, sports media, entertainment, or content-led brand marketing.
- Proven ability to build, scale, and lead editorial brands or verticals across multiple platforms.
- Deep understanding of sports culture, media trends, and audience behavior, particularly within Gen Z and millennial communities.
- Strong creative instincts with a track record of developing innovative, high-performing content and campaigns.
- Experience cultivating and managing external partnerships with platforms, publishers, or sports organizations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience mentoring and growing creative teams.
- Strategic thinker with a strong sense of cultural relevance, audience engagement, and platform optimization.
- Strong collaborator, able to align stakeholders across editorial, branded, marketing, and executive leadership.
- Must have a sense of humor, creativity, and a love for the Betches brand.
Compensation
The expected annual base salary for this role is $150,000 - $180,000. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors such as location are considered when determining the salary offered. Total compensation and offer package will include the following perks below.
